In the loveliest and most tranquil
town on the island of Fuerteventura, far from tourist enclaves and
close to the airport and with Puerto del Rosario (capital city) only
30 minutes away, 10 minutes to the beach and fishing village of Ajuí,
where you can find a wide variety of fish restaurants, and located
in a municipality where the best beaches of the island are to be
found (Costa Calma, Jandía, etc.), with 40 Km. of shoreline.
The town of Pájara, with its
1,000 inhabitants, is the main town of this municipality of the same
name (20,000 inhabitants) and the Town Council offices are also
located in this town.
The tourist enclaves in this
municipality offer 40.000 beds, making it easy to find well-paying
jobs, there is a great demand for qualified workers in building and
in tourist services.
The 18th century church has a unique
porch as well as an archaeological site with traditional indigenous
buildings used by the island's original inhabitants, as together
with the town of Betancuria, these were the first areas inhabited by
the Spanish Conquistadores.
There is also a Medical centre, a
Primary school and several supermarkets. Sports facilities include a
25 metre swimming pool, a covered sports centre and a soccer field
with artificial grass.
