The municipality of San Bartolomé
de Tirajana has a surface of 33,500 Hectares. (335 Km²). It is
shaped in the form of a triangle, its vertex located inland, at
1,900 metres, and its broad base coincides with the southern limit
of Gran Canaria. The municipality of San Bartolomé de
Tirajana has an exceptional coastline, 32 km. long, with wonderful
beaches of light sand, the coastal area has one of the best climates
on the island and on the world, eternal spring. The sun is constant
and the atmospheric and water temperatures vary between 20º C
and 25º C, on average. Nights are mild and warm, and there is
no winter here. On the privileged coastline you find Playa de
Maspalomas at an attitude of 150 m and as the crow flies 1500 m to
the sea there is Cho Manuel Residence - thus a confidential
recommendation for those who intend to spend a restful vacation not
far from a lively vacation spot. By car which is available during
the entire vacation you'll reach the centre of Maspalomas Beach and
Playa del Ingles in only 10 to 15 minutes. There you'll find the
infrastructure of a big tourist-city (restaurants, discos, pubs,
hospitals, night-clubs, casino, etc.) or two golf-courses
(Maspalomas Golf und Salobre Golf). There is the charming and
picturesque village El Tablero with cosy restaurants, supermarkets
und shops (2 km off). Vecindario, a long stretched village lies 15
km off Cho Manuel with cosy restaurants, bar, big supermarkets,
commercial centres, groceries, fish and fruit shops, cinemas und
fashion shops. Arguineguin is situated 11 km west of Cho Manuel, an
expanding industrial town and fishing-place. There are several good

Gran Canaria is a paradise of golden
sand beaches the coast of our community has a total of 29 beaches.
The most famous ones are Playa de Maspalomas, Playa del Inglés
and Playa de San Agustín. These three beaches received the
Blue Flag, an European award for beaches and resorts that totally
fulfil the regulations of cleanliness and hygiene. This is one of
the reasons that European institutions recommend them. There is a
big choice of different beaches, small or bigger ones, golden or
brown sand, calmer or more entertained ones, with water sport
activities or just quiet beaches and the sand dunes of Maspalomas.

GRAN CANARIAS WEATHER
Gran Canaria is a mountainous island
where the trade winds prevail around all year. This island deserves
the nickname "continent in miniature", as it holds a wide
variety of microclimates that go from the subtropical to the
continental climates. Sometimes, you can see snow in the highest
peaks, and just a few kilometres away you will get both tropical
temperatures and extreme cold. The most humid area is located in the
medianías, the northern area before the summit that is under
the direct influence of the humid trade winds. The wind, the Gulf
Stream, the relief and the geographical latitude determine the
climate of Gran Canaria, an island of volcanic origins and rich in
contrasts. The Canaries enjoy a worldwide fame, gained because of
its mild climate, one of the best in the whole world. Gran Canaria's
weather is mild, with pleasant temperatures, never too high and
almost always constant. Gran Canaria is as well called "the
island of the everlasting spring". The average temperatures
oscillate between the 22,3 ºC and the 28,5 ºC (maximum),
and between the 14,7 ºC and the 20,5 ºC (minimum).
